Publishing Rights
Verification Policy.
Effective September 18, 2026 · Current version 2026-10-04 · Updated October 4, 2026
BookPreview records the current copyright holder, publisher and digital publishing and distribution rights for individual works. Each documentary record identifies the book, evidence categories, material source, recorded version, provider confirmation, review date, policy version and outcome.
Profile confirmation and publishing rights
Catalog profile confirmed means the name associated with a catalog profile has been confirmed in our records. It does not, by itself, verify identity documents or establish that the named person wrote the original manuscript. Verified Publishing Rights means supporting documents have been reviewed for one identified work and version, its named rights holder and the recorded publishing scope. A decision for one book does not extend to other books. Publishing roles and information awaiting review are declarations.
Submissions and material sources
Materials may be provided directly by the named rights holder, by an authorized representative, or from an operator-maintained private manuscript archive. Each record distinguishes the source actually recorded. Archive possession alone is not evidence of ownership or permission to publish. The reviewer must establish who supplied the materials and the supplier’s authority, using verified contact details and a signed declaration or relevant rights documents. Where these checks are missing, the public record says that confirmation is required.
What we review
Manuscripts, drafts, chapter files, outlines and revision histories help identify a work and its development. A signed rights statement records the holder’s declaration. Rights obtained by assignment or license require review of the applicable agreement naming the work and parties and establishing the rights granted, territory, exclusivity and duration. A file inventory or fingerprint identifies materials; it does not establish publishing rights by itself. ISBN, a traditional publisher and copyright registration are not default requirements.
Version identification
Reviewers record the version examined and whether the identified file was reviewed, its contents were compared with a stated edition, or only a file inventory is available. Private file references and SHA-256 fingerprints support version checks. An inventory fingerprint is not a claim that an EPUB or another edition has been matched. Material changes to the work version or publishing scope require renewed review.
Decisions, dates and scope
The verification team may verify, request supporting documentation, reject, suspend or revoke a decision. Missing provider confirmation, version identification or relevant rights documents prevent a current publishing rights verification. Earlier decisions remain in the recorded history; their dates are not rewritten when details change. Public dates are displayed in UTC+07, with the original timestamp retained. The policy effective date, policy version, review date, update date and catalog listing date are separate.
Scope includes the recorded copyright holder, publisher, digital rights holder, territory, exclusivity where documented and contractual duration. “No fixed contractual expiration” means no separate contractual end date is specified; statutory copyright terms still apply. Changed or expired rights require renewed review. A catalog listing or platform publishing status is separate from BookPreview’s rights review and does not establish retail availability.
Team responsibility
BookPreview is managed by multiple moderators. Chelsea Williams is the principal responsible contact for its operations, review enquiries, corrections and rights disputes. Contact details and the contact address are published on our Contact page. Its verification team is responsible for documentary review decisions; catalog moderators maintain listings and handle corrections. Individual moderators may keep their identities private. Internal reviewer accounts and decision history allow authorized administrators to trace decisions. A reviewer with a commercial or personal interest in a work must disclose that relationship internally and seek review by an uninvolved team member. Our records describe BookPreview’s own assessment; they are not a decision by a retailer or government authority.
Private evidence and retention
Files uploaded through the verification service are stored outside public site files, encrypted at rest, scanned locally and restricted to the submitting account and authorized administrators. Access and decisions are logged. Uploaded files are deleted 30 days after a final decision or withdrawal. Cases awaiting changes close after 90 days of inactivity, followed by the 30-day deletion period. Deleted evidence must be supplied again for renewed review. We do not send manuscripts to AI services or external scanners.
The operator’s separately maintained archive is not an upload to this service and is managed separately. Public records describe its source and the information actually recorded; they do not promise that original archive files remain available indefinitely. Private references, fingerprints and decision history are retained for version and record checks while the catalog record exists, then for up to 12 months for reconciliation. Private documents, personal identification, file paths, signatures, contractual counterparty details and internal notes are not published.
Web submission requirements
Authors verify their email, declare the copyright holder and publishing scope, submit a signed statement naming the work and rights holder, and upload supporting files. Assigned or licensed rights require the corresponding agreement. Accepted files are PDF, TXT, PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 10 MB each, 10 files and 50 MB per case. Other formats can be exported as PDF or TXT. Account/profile confirmation, book rights review and editorial approval are separate steps. New web submissions require valid decisions before public listing.
Record checks, corrections and disputes
Contact [email protected] with the book title and record ID for a record check, correction or rights dispute, or use our copyright and DMCA channel. The verification team can check the retained record and request fresh evidence if needed. A record may be suspended while a dispute is reviewed. Unresolved allegations and private supporting documents are not published.
Managed by the BookPreview team
