Run Before the Sirens
When a wildfire evacuation throws Pine Ridge Campground into confusion, thirteen-year-old Talia watches her aunt's bus disappear down a road marked closed. Her younger cousins are on board, smoke is swallowing the familiar trails, and no adult has enough time to give her a complete answer.
With anxious, sharp-eared Mateo; practical Mrs. Alvarez; and Jory's stubborn water wagon, Talia heads through ash-covered picnic grounds, dry creek beds, and old service paths toward a way west. Every route changes. Every radio message leaves something out. Worst of all, Talia has to face the habit that keeps making things harder: acting certain before she has listened.
As heat rises and the campground map stops matching the ground, a forgotten gate rhythm may lead them to the only road still open. Talia will need Mateo's careful observations, Mrs. Alvarez's memory, and courage enough to ask for help before the sirens catch up.

This record is not a current verification of the book’s rights. The scope above describes the recorded review; current book information may have changed.
Manuscripts and inventory fingerprints identify supporting files. Confirmation of the provider, work version, and documents establishing publishing rights is required before a current rights verification can be issued.
A file inventory identifies recorded materials; it does not establish ownership by itself. No fixed contractual expiration describes the agreement’s duration, subject to statutory copyright terms.
Supporting documents remain private. For a record check, correction or rights dispute, contact [email protected] and quote the record ID.

The Wrong Turn
By noon, Pine Ridge Campground smelled like hot needles, gasoline, and somebody's burned toast.
Talia stood beside the ranger-station parking lot with a clipboard nobody had given her. It was a piece of cardboard from a box of granola bars, but she had made columns anyway: water, bags, people. She kept it tucked against her shirt so wind could not snatch it.
"Lio is on Bus Two," she said. "Bea is with Aunt Sera. Mateo, put your backpack on your back. Not one strap. Both."
