The bell over Holt's Corner Pharmacy had a tired brass voice. It rang once for Alma Reyes and once again when a gust of cold April rain shoved her through the door.
"Don't make me pay for the weather," Alma said, folding her umbrella with both hands. The umbrella was striped blue and white, one rib bent backward like it had tried to leave without her.
Damaris Holt looked up from the counter. "You got a receipt for it?"
