Borrow Pit Gospel
Church-bus mechanic Amos Bell finds blasting caps hidden beneath donated hymnals, and the bus that carries recovery riders suddenly looks like a weapon. In southern West Virginia's hollowed coal towns, New Promise's routes move people to meetings, court dates, and another chance. Someone has turned that trust into cover.
Following mileage gaps, quarry records, revival donations, and sealed delivery sheets, Amos traces the cargo toward Mill Creek Bridge, where a public dedication will gather riders and families. Pastor Eli Mercer wants quiet time to protect a fragile ministry. Tasha Wynn knows silence is its own kind of danger.
As records vanish and pressure closes in, every ordinary stop becomes a choice: protect the people who saved him, or expose what could destroy them. The bridge date is coming, and Amos must choose between belonging and truth before a local conspiracy turns faith, work, and a crowded road into disaster.

Spare Tire Gospel
The left rear brake had been dragging long enough to blue the rim.
Amos Bell knew it from the heat before he pulled the wheel. The smell stayed close to the metal, bitter and dry, even with the garage door raised toward the October rain. Unit 3 sat crooked on jack stands behind New Promise Church, its white paint gone gray at the seams. Somebody had written JESUS SAVES in the dust on the rear door with a fingertip.
He worked the caliper loose, checked the slide pins, and found one swollen with rust. Nothing surprising. Church buses lived hard. They idled through pickup lines, climbed wet grades with twelve people in folding chairs, waited outside clinics and courtrooms. Nobody remembered a bus until it failed.
