A Door in Every Language
When sixteen-year-old Sol Reyes finds out her Aurora high school plans to replace family liaisons with automated translation kiosks, the announcement sounds like progress. The screens promise more languages and faster help. Then a mistranslated time makes a parent miss a meeting that could change her son's support at school.
Sol knows what adults overlook: translation is not only words. It is knowing which question matters, who needs a call back, and when a polished answer is still wrong. As the district prepares a budget vote, she reluctantly joins forces with Maya, a sharp class rival, families who refuse to be reduced to data, and a tech-club student who understands exactly where the new system fails.
With a public hearing closing in, Sol must decide whether to keep carrying everyone else's voice or risk speaking in her own. A Door in Every Language is a contemporary YA drama about family, friendship, civic pressure, and the cost of being understood.

The Good Kind of Useful
By four-thirty, the waiting room at Aurora Community Legal Desk smells like wet coats and burned coffee. I sit behind the front counter with a clipboard balanced on my chemistry book, answering the phone before it can ring twice.
"Community Legal Desk, this is Sol."
A woman begins in Spanish so fast that I have to lift one finger at the empty air, as if she can see it through the phone. Her landlord has taped a notice to her door. Her cousin says it means she has three days. She wants to know if that is true.
