The Last Good Apology
Sixteen-year-old Dani Flores can write an apology for almost anyone. At school, her polished words make angry student leaders sound thoughtful, and her talent has earned her a place at the center of a restorative-justice showcase. Then a projector accidentally displays a draft built from her older sister Vale's private account of a family and arts-program dispute.
Vale is not interested in being turned into Dani's redemption lesson. She returns to Harbor House, the Queens arts center where her work was used without credit, and insists that repair means more than a careful speech. With six weeks until the showcase, Dani must navigate a school's need for a clean success, a mother's fear of neighborhood gossip, and the growing realization that her own language helped make Vale easier to dismiss.
As the event closes in, Dani faces a choice between protecting the approved story and risking her leadership, her family's privacy, and the room itself. To make a repair that can survive refusal, she will have to stop asking how to sound sorry and start deciding what she is willing to lose.

The Wrong Draft
By the time Nia Chen said the phrase "taking responsibility," Dani knew the projector was about to betray her.
