A Pocketful of Comets
When a summer storm sends tiny blue comets into the drains beneath Mina's Queens apartment building, ten-year-old Mina catches one in a soup pot. The comet gives her a perfect memory of a rooftop birthday, and then, for one bright evening, it helps her worried parents remember how to laugh together.
But every restored memory leaves a hole somewhere nearby. Mrs. Das forgets the care routine for her beloved orchid. Mina's cousin loses the rules to a favorite hallway game. As blue lights spread through the pipes, Mina and her skeptical friend Eli discover that the comets are collecting the building's shared life one secret at a time.
With a meteor shower coming and the changes around her growing harder to ignore, Mina must decide whether to keep the one memory that makes everything feel safe or return what she took. A warm, slightly eerie middle-grade fantasy about friendship, family, and the courage to let imperfect memories be true.

By the time the thunder got serious, Mina had made three deliveries, found Mr. Ortiz's missing mailbox key under a stack of takeout menus, and carried a bag of limes upstairs for Mrs. Das.
That was why, when the building's basement started dripping in a place it was not supposed to drip, Mr. Ortiz called up to 6B instead of calling the super.
"Mina!" he shouted from the lobby. "Bring your fast feet!"
